My background

About Me. CARD-profile-pic-fw

I have a first degree in Psychology and studied for an MSc in Occupational Psychology in 1992, I am currently studying for an MA in Existential Coaching.

I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling And Psychotherapy). As a BACP member I work to their ethical framework.

I have experience in working with a range of issues including, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship and interrelation issues, identity and gender based issues. My experience also includes working with issues around Abuse, Trauma, loss and bereavement, marital issues (breakdown/divorce) and identity.

I have experience of working with the misuse of drugs and alcohol and issues related to these problems and work on a voluntary basis for a leading Drug and Alcohol Mental Health service.

My experience

My experience includes working with many different types of people who have short and longer term needs, covering a wide range of areas, and as always clients’ issues and preferences are the priority.

I am also a trained NHS Youth Counsellor (Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust: Home) working with 12 to 24 years young people and adolescents.

My work with the NHS and Catalyst has exposed me to a diverse range of people, circumstances and issues though this work is often short term, there are times when longer-term therapy is available.

I have an enhanced DBS.

I have been certified to work either Face to Face, online or via the telephone.

My theoretical approach

I am a trained integrative counsellor, meaning I can work using a variety of approaches including Person-centred, Existential, Behavioural, and Psychodynamic modalities. I am part the therapeutic community and actively involved with a variety of groups, I also receive monthly supervision and guidance on best practice. I have a keen curiosity and remain open to new ideas and the development of therapeutic techniques.
